Dog Run

It has been proposed that a dog run be installed in Dickinson Square Park.  The idea is that the dog run will provide a stronger sense of community among the most frequent users of the park, that is, the dog owners.

The FDS sees this as another step in the evolution of the revitalization of Dickinson Square. The Friends of Dickinson Square want your input about a proposed dog run. We'll provide an update on funding and discuss location, materials, and any other concerns.  

Dickinson Square Park is a popular and pleasant place for people to walk their dogs, and many do so responsibly. 

If you bring your dog to Dickinson Square Park, please follow the following rules:

• Always keep your dog on a leash.
  This is the law of the City of Philadelphia.  It's important to recognize that not everyone is familiar with your dog.  It's also worth keeping in mind that the majority of dog walkers adhere to the law, and appreciate reciprocal behavior.  When your dog is off leash, it is very easy to miss when the dog has left something behind, and dog crap makes the Park a less pleasant place. 
  
  
• Always pick up after your pet.
  A number of neighborhood children play in the park, and dog crap is definitely not conducive to this end.  Again, the majority of dog walkers observe the rules and pick up after their pets, helping to maintain a pleasant environment.  Failure to do so is not only illegal, but seriously degrades the Park. 
  
  
• Never allow dogs near or around the playground equipment.
  The odds are great that children will not know your dog, and your dog may not be used to children.
  

And please be responsible for and control your pet at all times.
